Don Jazzy, born Michael Collins Ajereh, is a Nigerian record producer, performer, songwriter, and entrepreneur.
In 2004, he co-founded Mo’ Hits Records, which is now defunct. Don Jazzy founded Mavin Records on May 8, 2012, following the dissolution of the aforementioned record label.
Ajereh was born in the state of Lagos. Ajereh was raised in Ajegunle, Lagos, by his family.
He attended Federal Government College Lagos, a co-educational high school. Ajereh developed an early interest in music and began playing the bass guitar at the age of 12.
In addition, he learned how to play traditional and percussion instruments. Ajareh enrolled at Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma, Edo state, to study business management.
Ajereh went to London in 2000. His uncle had persuaded him to join the local church’s drum corps. Ajereh found work at McDonald’s and as a security guard in London.
He pursued his passion for music by hanging out with Solek, JJC, Kas, The 419 Squad, and D’Banj. At O-Town Records, Ajereh learned how to produce from Emeka Infiniti.
Mo’ Hits Records was founded by Ajereh and D’Banj in 2004. Ajereh produced the albums No Long Thing and Rundown/Funk You Up during the next two years.
Curriculum Vitae, a third album, was also in the works. “It’s Don Jazzy Again!” Ajereh developed a memorable introduction around this time.
D’Banj credited Ajereh with the development of The Entertainer in 2008.
