A-Reece, real name Lehlogonolo Ronald Mataboge, was born on March 27, 1997, in South Africa. He is a rapper, composer, and record producer. He comes from a Pretoria, Gauteng, background.

Inspired by his older brother Phologo Jody Mataboge, better known as Jay Jody of the hip hop duo B3nchMarQ, he began composing music while still in elementary school. It was his astrological sign, Aries, that inspired his stage name.

A collaboration with rapper Emtee on the song “Couldn’t” helped propel him to stardom in 2015.

“Paradise” (2016), A-first Reece’s studio album, featured the hit singles “Couldn’t” and “Mgani,” both of which were also featured on the album. A-music Reece’s video for “Feelings,” which features his ex-employee Flvme, was released in 2017. ‘Welcome To My Life’ served as the lead single off his 2018 album “Long Lost Letters,” a collaboration with Ecco and Wordz.

Reece Effect was released in 2019. Gwan Big Up Urself, Cutaways EP, and I’m Only 21 are just a few of the EPs he’s put out. His mixtape, “Today’sTragedy Tomorrow’s Memory,” was published in 2021. A further album that year, “heaVeN cAn wAiT the narrow door:vol1,” was issued by him and his brother Jay Jody under the name Blue Tape. And in 2022, in one of his lyrics from “Couldn’t Have Said better part 3,” the South African rapper, songwriter, and record producer said he might drop any day of the week and will be coming back with something impact filled on October 21st.

In 2021, A-Reece released his mixtape Today’s Tragedy, Tomorrow’s Memory and signed a distribution agreement with Apple Music’s A&R company Platoon, which specializes in packaging young artists before they earn a major-label contract. The mixtape was promoted in Forbes, Clash, and Flaunt.
