Olamide Adedeji, generally known as Olamide, is a renowned rapper and the CEO of YBNL. He has stated that he went through hell trying to make it as a young musician, which is why he is enthusiastic about helping up-and-coming artists.

“I took it as a personal thing, like, ‘Bro, I went through hell before I got here,” the Durosoke rapper said in an interview with Apple Music’s Africa Now Radio. I’ve arrived.’ If I have the chance to promote someone I know, I will do all in my power to ensure that person succeeds.”

“It has been amazing,” he said of the response to his current album, UY Scuti. It’s as if I’ve begun my career all over again, and believe me, if I’d known it would be this huge, I would have done it for a long time. I believe that if there was no earlier version of Olamide who had gone through the street battle, this version of Olamide who makes ‘chilled’ music would not exist. However, it still appeals to the homeless in certain ways.”

Olamide also stated that his music served as a “bridge” between various groups of people.

“I feel that I’m one of, if not the number one guy in Nigeria or Africa, whose music can transcend the divide between the affluent and the poor,” he added.
