Mabel Oine Alubo, better known by her stage name BELLA, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. She was born in Jos, Plateau, Nigeria, on August 9th, 1993.
Growing up, she was influenced by a diverse range of artists, including Eminem, Ray Boltz, Plantashun Boiz, R-Kelly, Daddy Showkey Spice Girls, and the Danfo Drivers.
She began writing poems at the age of 12 to reflect her imaginations and the world around her. She was motivated to write rap rhymes when she was 16 after listening to Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III album.
A year later, she was encouraged to try her hand at modeling and pageantry, earning her first place in the 2010 Miss Tourism Plateau pageant and third place in the Miss Plateau pageant in 2011.
Bella was encouraged to take her interest for music more seriously by the development of fellow J-town based artists M.I, Jesse Jagz, and Iceprince, thus she released her first piece of work in 2012, a cover of Kanye West’s Theraflu.
She opted to pursue music as a career after graduating with a BSc in Microbiology from the University of Jos. She released a song called “No Lie” in 2015, which was a rendition of Falz’ Karishika.
Her first body of work, her debut EP with budding producer Jxmmy Whxxlxr, was released shortly after.
In 2016, she released ‘Bella 2.0: Lucid Dreaming,’ a second EP record that includes fan favorites including ‘Alhaji Money’ and ‘Myself,’ both produced by Syn X.
Bella signed a significant record deal with Tinny Entertainment, the Nigerian music label that is home to African pop artist Ycee, a month following the release of her album “Bella 2.0: Lucid Dreaming.” Check out Bella’s Songs, Videos and Albums below!
