Chidinma Ekile (born 2 May 1991) is a Nigerian singer and songwriter better known by her stage name Chidinma. After winning the third season of Project Fame West Africa in 2010, she shot to fame.
She became the first female singer to reach number one on the MTV Base Official Naija Top 10 list after the release of the music video for her single “Emi Ni Baller.”
Her first solo single, “Jankoliko,” featuring Sound Sultan, was released in 2011. The music site Spinlet released Chidinma, her self-titled debut studio album.
The singles “Jankoliko,” “Carry You Go,” “Kedike,” and “Run Dia Mouth” helped to promote it.
Sound Sultan, Tha Suspect, Olamide, and Muna all make cameos on the album.
Chidinma won Best Female West African Act at the 2012 Kora Awards, where she also sang “Kedike.”
Chidinma Ekile was born in Ketu, Kosofe, Lagos State, the sixth of seven children. Her parents are both from Imo State. Prior to auditioning for the third season of Project Fame West Africa, she worked as a business marketer in Lagos.
Chidinma began singing at the age of six and was raised by a strict father. She joined the choir at her church when she was ten years old.
