Dapo Tuburna, whose true name is Oladapo David Olajide, is an Afrobeat musician who was born on February 1st, 1992, in Lagos, Nigeria.


As a recording artist, Dapo is most renowned for his vocal strength and prowess, his composure and charisma as a performer, and his aptitude for narrative as a songwriter.

Dapo Tuburna grew up in Oshodi, a Lagos suburb, as the youngest of five children. Music by legends like Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Damian Marley, Femi Kuti, and 2Face Idibia impacted him significantly. At the age of 12, he penned and recorded his debut song, “First Foundation,” which was produced by his uncle.

He went to F.A.A.N Staff Primary School in Lagos, then to the Nigerian Navy Secondary School Government School in Abeokuta, and then to Redeemers University in Osun, where he studied Physics and Electronics for three (3) years before leaving to study music at the Ten Stringz Music School and begin a professional career in music.


Dapo Tuburna was influenced by greats like Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Damian Marley, Femi Kuti, and 2Face Idibia as he grew up.

Dapo Tuburna released his first mixtape, “Officer On Duty,” in 2013. He recorded this collection of covers and original songs in the hopes of landing a record deal, which he did not receive at the time.
