Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk (born October 31, 1986) is a Nigerian music artist and singer better known by his stage name Iyanya.
He rose to prominence after winning the first season of Project Fame West Africa, and his smash tune “Kukere” made him a household name.
In 2011, he and Ubi Franklin co-founded the record label Made Men Music Group. In 2011, he released his first studio album, My Story. The tracks “No Time” and “Love Truly” helped to promote it.
“Kukere,” “Ur Waist,” “Flavour,” “Sexy Mama,” and “Jombolo” were among the singles from his second studio album, Desire. At The Headies 2013, he was named Artist of the Year.
Iyanya announced on Instagram in October 2016 that he has secured a record deal with Mavin Records, months after signing a management deal with Temple Management Company.
In July 2016, he declared his desire to depart Made Man Music Group.
Iyanya was born in Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria, on Palm Street. His father was a forester and his mother was a head mistress.
His mother was the household disciplinarian, while his father was the kinder of the two, according to Iyanya.
His parents, his mother, who was 42 years old at the time, and his father, who was 50 years old, both died in 2008. Iyanya’s older brother passed away at the same time as his parents.
Iyanya’s grandfather worked as a minister.
At the age of five, Iyanya was the choir master for the children’s choir at his church. In Calabar, Iyanya had his primary, secondary, and university education.
