Damilola Afolabi, also known as (L.A.X), is a Nigerian Afrobeat, Afropop, and recording artist who was born in Lagos, Nigeria, on April 10, 1993.

The young artist is the son of Sifax Group CEO Taiwo Afolabi, a Nigerian millionaire.

Lex attended his elementary and secondary education at Turkish International School Lagos, where he created the Flyboiz music group, which released the track “busy body.” He left the group to pursue his education at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom.

During his Masters in the United Kingdom, the star began writing songs and filming a few videos.

In 2012, he released “jaye,” his first major single, which featured Ice Prince on vocals.

He met Wizkid, the global head of Starboy Entertainment, through his stylist and signed his first professional record contract with Starboy Entertainment in 2013.

In August 2013, the superstar linked up with Wizkid to record “Caro,” his first single under the imprint, which received widespread airplay and propelled him into the Nigerian music market.

At the 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards, the song was nominated in the category of “Hottest single of the year.”
