Mary Mccord Biography

Mary McCord is a well-known attorney and specialist in national security in the United States. She entered this world on December 17th, 1968, in the city of Indianapolis, in the state of Indiana. Because McCord came from a long line of legal professionals, it was only natural for her to follow in their footsteps and become a lawyer herself.

Rhodes College awarded McCord her Bachelor of Arts in English in 1990, and Georgetown University Law Center awarded her Juris Doctor in 1994. Both institutions are located in Rhode Island. After receiving her degree, she worked as a law clerk in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia for the Honorable Thomas Hogan.

Career

In the middle of the 1990s, McCord started her career in the legal field working for the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) as a prosecutor. She began her career in the Criminal Division of the Department of Justice and rose through the ranks to become the Deputy Head of the Fraud and Public Corruption Unit. She was given the position of Senior Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the National Security Division of the Department of Justice in the year 2014.

During her career at the Department of Justice, McCord was instrumental in a wide variety of investigations and charges pertaining to national security. She was in charge of supervising the prosecution of a number of high-profile cases, including the case against Russian operatives who sought to influence the presidential election in the United States in 2016.

In 2016, McCord was appointed to his current position at the Department of Justice (DOJ) as Acting Assistant Attorney General for National Security. She was in charge of supervising the Department of Justice’s national security activities, which included the fight against terrorism, counterintelligence, and cybercrime while she held this position.

In 2017, McCord handed in her resignation from her post at the Department of Justice and began working as a visiting professor at Georgetown University Law Center. In addition to that, she worked her way up to the position of a senior lawyer at the Institute for Constitutional Advocacy and Protection, a charitable organization whose mission is to defend the rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution.

During the course of her career, McCord has been honored with a plethora of trophies and accolades. She was honored with the Assistant Attorney General’s Award for Outstanding Service in 2017, which is the highest accolade that can be bestowed by the Department of Justice. She has also been recognized as a “Woman of Influence” by the National Law Journal and has been presented with the “Golden Quill” award by the Criminal Division of the Department of Justice.

In general, Mary McCord is a very well-respected legal expert who has devoted her career to safeguarding the nation’s security and ensuring that the rule of law is maintained.
