Mithali Raj Biography

Mithali Dorai Raj is an Indian cricketer born on December 3, 1982. She served as the captain of the India women’s national cricket team from 2004 to 2022.

Mithali is the player who has scored the most runs in the history of women’s international cricket, and she is widely regarded as one of the best cricket players of all time.

In the world of international cricket, Mithali has several records. She is the only female cricket player to have scored more than 7,000 runs in Women’s One Day International matches. She is the only player in the history of One-Day Internationals to score seven straight 50s.

Additionally, she holds the record for the most fifty-point scores in WODIs. She became the first player from India to register 2000 runs in T20 Internationals in June 2018, during the 2018 Women’s Twenty20 Asia Cup.
She became the first female cricketer to reach 2000 runs in WT20 Internationals. Both of these milestones were achieved in 2018.

In 2005, Mithali was given the role of India’s captain permanently. She is the only female player to have ever captained India in more than one ICC One-Day International World Cup final, having done so twice (in 2005 and 2017).

Mithali became the first woman to play in 200 One-Day International matches on February 1, 2019, as India competed against New Zealand Women in a series.

She announced in September 2019 that she would no longer play Twenty20 Internationals and instead concentrate on One-Day Internationals. In 2019, she made history by becoming the first woman to play international cricket for 20 consecutive years.

Mithali has been honored with several national and international accolades, including the Wisden Leading Woman Cricketer in the World award in 2017, the Arjuna Award in 2003, the Padma Shri medal in 2015, and the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna award in 2021.

Mithali broke the previous record of 10,273 runs held by Charlotte Edwards in July 2021, making her the highest run-scorer in the history of women’s international cricket. Mithali Sreesanth announced that she would be retiring from all forms of international cricket on June 8, 2022.

Earlier life
Mithali Raj was born on December 3rd, 1982, in the city of Jodhpur, in the Indian state of Rajasthan. Her mother’s name is Leela Raj, and her father, Dorai Raj, served as a Warrant Officer Airman in the Indian Air Force. Leela Raj is her mother. At ten, Mithali began her career as a cricket player. Her home is in Hyderabad, which is located in Telangana. She completed her secondary education at Kasturba Gandhi Junior College for Women in Secunderabad after completing her primary and secondary education at Keyes High School for Girls in Hyderabad. She began receiving cricket coaching with her older brother during her school years.

Domestic career
At the beginning of her career, Mithali competed for Air India alongside future cricket greats such as Purnima Rau, Anjum Chopra, and Anju Jain while playing in the local league for Railways. She has participated in the Women’s T20 Challenge with the Supernovas and the Velocity teams.
