Oritsefemi Majemite Ekele (born January 5, 1985) is a Nigerian singer-songwriter and performer better known by his stage name Oritse Femi.
His most famous song is a remake of Fela Kuti’s “Double Wahala.” At the 2014 City People Entertainment Awards, he received two nominations for his rendition of the song, winning the award for Most Popular Song of the Year.
At the 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards, he was also named Indigenous Artist of the Year. He released the remix for his D’banj-assisted version of the song in 2014.
Oritsefemi, his mother’s third child, was born and raised in Ajegunle in a polygamous family of 25.
He is from the Itsekiri tribe in Delta State’s North Warri. He attended Mayday Secondary School in Ikoyi for a short time before switching to Tolu Primary School in Ajegunle due to his parents’ inability to afford the high cost of education in Ikoyi’s affluent neighborhood.
Army Children School was where he finished his elementary schooling. He graduated from Randle High School with a secondary school diploma and applied to Delta State University in Abraka to study law, but he opted out to focus on his music career.
