Sound Sultan is a Nigerian rapper, singer-songwriter, actor, comedian, and record producer who was born Olanrewaju Fasasi on November 27, 1976.
In Nigeria, he is considered as one of the pioneers of modern hip hop music.
Sound Sultan is the fourth of Fasasi Liadi Alarape’s (Father) and Fasasi Adeyinka Ajarat’s six children (Mother).
He attended Stepping Stone Nursery and Primary School (1981–1987) before attending Federal Government College Ogbomosho (1988–1993) for his high school education before graduating from Lagos State University with a degree in Geography and Regional Planning in 1999.
He became interested in music in 1991, miming at school gatherings and writing his own tunes.
Baba Dee, his older brother who studied Theatre Arts, was an early impact on him. Baba Dee’s influence was responsible for the most of his early stage experience.
He began learning to play the guitar after finishing high school, and by 1999, he had formed a band.
Sound Sultan began his professional show business career in the 1990s. To make money for studio sessions, he began hosting shows.
By 1999, he had won a number of local talent events, and in 2000, he released his first single, “Jagbajantis,” which became an instant hit and a Nigerian classic.
