The Port Harcourt-based artiste also stated that he did not believe he had to leave Port Harcourt for Lagos, considered the nation’s entertainment capital before he could become successful.

DanDizzy also noted that his public freestyling sessions are strategic. According to him, he would soon release ‘proper music’.

In his words, he said:

“Originality and realness are the things that make me unique. I don’t rap about things I have not experienced. I can only rap about my experiences in a very relatable way for everyone to understand.

I have always loved music, and from an early age, I knew I was talented.

I think rappers are going through a lot because most of the rap songs are not relatable, and Nigerians don’t want to accept pidgin fully.

I think Lagos is just a location because the Nigerian music industry does not have a structure.

It is just the fact that (the headquarters of most) media platforms are in Lagos and that’s where most of the top players in the industry live. However, I am finding my way around it.

For so long, afrobeat has been given massive media push in addition to funding, but rappers don’t get a lot (of things like that) in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the ‘gatekeepers of rap’ were more focused on punch lines, rather than collaborating (with one another), increasing the numbers, to sustain a long-lasting culture of rap music in the country.”
