Tanzanian gospel collective Neema Gospel Choir delivers “Usifiwe,” a live worship recording from their AICT Chang’ombe congregation in Dar es Salaam.
Vocal performance is led by Glory Bupe and the song was composed by Godwin Mlambo.
“Usifiwe” translates to “Be Praised” and the song is dedicated to recognizing God’s greatness, faithfulness, and everlasting goodness over its lengthy runtime.Running close to ten minutes, this live ministration builds its atmosphere gradually rather than rushing toward a single climactic moment.
Victorious Production handled the production management, and JTL horns add another textured layer to the choir’s already expansive arrangement. Rich choral harmonies carry most of the emotional weight, giving the recording that full congregational sound Neema Gospel Choir has become known for across their catalogue.
This isn’t the first time the choir has explored this particular theme either.The studio version, “Usifiwe Mungu”, was released on the 2022 album “Nikubali Yesu” but this new live version takes that message further into a wider and more immersive space. Also, the choir continues to build on the records “Burudani Moyoni” and “Msalabani” and further enhances their reputation in East African contemporary gospel.
“Usifiwe” is a song of thanksgiving in the midst of waiting seasons and moments of testimony, speaking directly to believers walking in the dark.
