South African music project Digital Maskandi opens its debut compilation with Mzukulu and Blxckie on “Too Much,” released September 11, 2026.

That stadium comparison isn’t just colorful writing, it’s central to the song’s whole premise. “Too Much” builds itself around kuningi, a concept describing love so massive that ordinary words and numbers can’t quite measure it. Framing that overwhelm against two of South Africa’s biggest stadiums gives the metaphor real physical scale rather than leaving it abstract.

This also marks Mzukulu’s first release since a genuinely major moment, his SAMA32 wins for Best Male Artist and Best Maskandi Album. Coming off that recognition, teaming up with Blxckie signals real intent for “Digital Maskandi Vol. 1,” a compilation developed by Ntuthuko Mtshali through Durban Media House and Africori Music Group, designed specifically to put Maskandi legends in conversation with hip-hop, Afro-soul, and other contemporary South African sounds without abandoning the genre’s guitar-driven roots.

Classic Maskandi guitar work anchors the production, with Spanish guitar touches and a smooth saxophone melody adding extra color. Mzukulu’s soulful delivery meets Blxckie’s melodic edge, and neither artist compromises their own musical identity to make the pairing work.
