South African Amapiano producer N T S A K O XVI drops “XVI’s Diary,” an eight-track studio album through 101 Music and EMPIRE.
Shaun 101 plays a central role across the project, showing up on multiple tracks and continuing a creative partnership that clearly runs deeper than a single feature. Also, the album pulls in a wide range of collaborators including Ch’cco, Scotts Maphuma, Focalistic, Nkulee501, Uncool MC, Springle, and Philharmonic, giving each track its own distinct character within the Private School Amapiano sound.
Opener “Nyakss” sets the tone for the whole project before “Ama 1K” builds early momentum with Shaun 101, Mbuzi, and Uncool MC. “Kanjalo kanjalo” follows as track three, stacking Nkulee501, Shaun 101, Scotts Maphuma, and Uncool MC into one of the album’s more crowded collaborative moments. But nothing feels rushed. Each artist finds their own space within the arrangement.
“Woza” brings Springle and Philharmonic into the mix at track four, adding vocal warmth to the project’s dance-ready direction. N T S A K O XVI then steps forward solo on “DAMMIT,” shifting the album’s flow midway through before “Udoti e’Durban” reintroduces Ch’cco and Shaun 101. The project also includes “i’Bus” with LeeroSoul and “NGEKE,” which brings Shaun 101, Uncool MC, Ch’cco, and Scotts Maphuma together for a final collaborative statement.
Described as introspective and diary-like in its structure, the album explores life, love, ambition, and personal growth across its compact runtime, letting emotion and narration sit alongside a distinctly contemporary Amapiano identity.
