Reaching instead for an old Akan expression about life’s journey signals Chicogod wanted this specific track to breathe differently from the rest of his catalog, songs like “I DON’T FEEL NIGGAS” or “ASAKAA PARTY” chase a very different energy entirely.
The production leans gloomy and slow-burning, built around sliding 808 sub-basslines, banging drill kicks, and sharp hi-hat rolls, the same sonic architecture that defines Asakaa but stretched into something more contemplative.
Chicogod navigates that methodical pace with his distinctive textured rasp, mixing Asante Twi and English idioms from the very first bar, drawing listeners into silent sacrifices and loneliness rather than street conflict.
For a movement often reduced to its aggression, “OBRA AKWANTUO” is proof Chicogod can slow things down without losing the grit that made the genre resonate in the first place.
