Nigerian Afrobeats star BNXN, formerly known as Buju, makes a surprise return with “Online,” previewing his upcoming EP “Still In Charge.”
Released through T.Y.E and EMPIRE, the track deals with stepping away from constant notifications and social pressure just to breathe for a while. “BNXN Online” catches him mid-reflection, working through the exhaustion of staying permanently connected before deciding to log off on his own terms. It’s a simple enough idea, but the delivery is what makes it land. His vocal tone stays warm and confident throughout, never tipping into melodrama about something as ordinary as needing a break.
Early reaction has already been loud. Fans are calling it one of his strongest tracks this year, with the chorus getting singled out repeatedly for how quickly it sticks. BNXN also added a bit of playful chaos to the rollout, tagging Aliko Dangote on X and half-joking that Dangote Group staff should stream the song during work hours.
This arrives right after “Eja Meja” with Asake and sets up “Still In Charge,” a six-track project due through EMPIRE later this month. Since “Sincerely, Benson” cracked the Billboard World Albums chart, BNXN’s been building toward something bigger, and “Online” feels like the calm before that next wave.
