Fally Ipupa’s been reaching for grand romantic imagery throughout this whole double album, and “Den’s Love” pushes that instinct furthest yet. He leans on ancient Egyptian references here, invoking the pyramids and Cleopatra to frame a love built to outlast time itself. Since “XX: Délirium” draws so heavily from traditional Congolese rumba, weaving in imagery this ambitious shows just how far he’s willing to stretch the genre’s storytelling reach.
The production stays true to rumba’s smooth, melodic foundation, unhurried and patient throughout. Nothing here rushes toward a quick resolution. Instead, the arrangement takes its time, letting the extended runtime give the song’s grand narrative room to fully develop.
Fally Ipupa leads with his familiar expressive, seasoned voice, carrying real poetic weight through every verse. It reads like a love song built on scale rather than simplicity.
“Den’s Love” works because Fally Ipupa commits fully to that grand, unhurried romantic vision. The extended runtime never once feels wasted. It plays like one of the most ambitious romantic statements on the entire “XX: Délirium” project.
