Sims Noreng closes his “Norengville” EP by bringing in one of Amapiano’s most recognizable voices, Focalistic, for “Retloba Wete.”
Seven tracks in, and this is the only guest spot pulled from outside the project’s usual circle of collaborators. So “Sims Noreng Retloba Wete” carries a bit more weight than the earlier features. Focalistic’s presence alone signals a different kind of crossover appeal, the kind that pulls his existing fanbase into Sims Noreng’s world rather than the other way around.
The title has that distinctly Southern African, conversational quality to it. Sims Noreng leads the record, letting Focalistic slot in with his usual energetic delivery and catchy phrasing. Rolling percussion and deep basslines carry the whole thing, giving it that polished, danceable feel built for parties and long drives alike. Two artists with somewhat different profiles meet comfortably here, honestly. Neither one dominates, which keeps the record feeling collaborative rather than like a guest verse tacked onto someone else’s song.
Closing “Norengville” with its biggest name makes sense as a rollout strategy, giving the EP a wider entry point after six tracks built mostly around Sims Noreng’s own circle.
