South African producer SGVO opens his “Afro Archives” project with “Thando Awpheli,” pulling Shakes & Les, Artwork Sounds, and Young Stunna onto a reworked version of a song already familiar to Amapiano fans.

The original track dates back to 2024, when Shakes & Les first released it on their “MKHAYA” project alongside Young Stunna and LeeMcKrazy, with production credited to Kamogelo Shakoane and Sihle Lukhele. So “SGVO Thando Awpheli” isn’t a brand-new composition. It’s SGVO taking an already loved record and reshaping it into something fresh for his own five-track compilation, placing it as the opening statement rather than burying it deeper in the tracklist.

Young Stunna brings real weight to any collaboration he touches, honestly. His debut album “Notumato” went platinum and hit number one in South Africa, and hits like “Adiwele” reached number one on SA radio with over 23 million impressions. Pairing that pedigree with Shakes & Les’s original vision and Artwork Sounds’ contribution gives this version genuine star power behind the reinterpretation.

Opening “Afro Archives” with a track this recognizable sets a high bar for the rest of the compilation. It also shows SGVO’s confidence in putting his own stamp on something people already know and love.
