Ghanaian Asakaa drill pioneer Chicogod taps Reggie and Beeztrap KOTM for a high-octane closer titled “ASAKAA PARTY,” rounding out his nine-track album “4TH QUARTER.”
“ASAKAA PARTY” closes out “4TH QUARTER” as the album’s 9th and final track, a deliberate switch from the “life’s journey” weight of “OBRA AKWANTUO” that opened the project’s more reflective second half.
That sequencing choice matters. Ending an album with a party record after tracks exploring silent sacrifices and life’s sojourn is a specific decision, one that lets Chicogod close the project on release rather than reflection.
Reggie and Chicogod aren’t new to each other either, both names surface repeatedly across Kumasi’s Asakaa scene through joint efforts with O’Kenneth, Jay Bahd, and the wider Asakaa Boys collective, so this pairing draws on years of overlapping studio sessions rather than a one-off booking.
Sonically, the track abandons the gritty trench narratives that define much of Chicogod’s catalog. Instead, it channels the relentless energy of Kumasi’s youth culture into a festival-ready banger built for warehouse sound systems and outdoor block parties alike.
Chicogod opens with his textured rasp and disciplined breath control, blending Asante Twi and English before Reggie and Beeztrap KOTM trade laid-back cadences and call-and-response flows that push the momentum higher.
